1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Kerkennah Tides ("the App"), developed by Nabil Doghri ("we", "us", "our"), handles information when you use our mobile application.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. The App is designed to function with minimal data requirements and performs all core calculations locally on your device.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

The App does not collect, store, or transmit:

Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
Location data (GPS coordinates)
Device identifiers
Usage analytics or tracking data
Contacts, photos, or any other personal files

3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The App stores the following data only on your device using local storage:

User preferences: language selection, swim threshold setting, notification preferences
Cached weather data: temporarily cached weather information from Open-Meteo API (expires after 1 hour) to enable offline functionality
Cached tide data: temporarily cached tide calculations (expires after 6 hours) to enable offline functionality

This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party.

4. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

4.1 Open-Meteo API

The App fetches weather data (wind speed, wind direction, atmospheric pressure) from the Open-Meteo API. These requests contain only geographic coordinates of the Kerkennah Islands (not your personal location). Open-Meteo's privacy policy is available at open-meteo.com/en/terms.

4.2 OpenStreetMap Tiles

The beach map uses map tiles from OpenStreetMap. Loading map tiles may transmit your IP address to OpenStreetMap tile servers. See OpenStreetMap's Privacy Policy.

4.3 Google AdMob

The App displays advertisements through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use data as described in Google's Privacy Policy. This may include:

Advertising ID
IP address
Device information for ad personalization

You can opt out of personalized advertising in your device settings under Settings > Google > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalization.

5. Notifications

If you enable tide notifications, they are scheduled locally on your device. No notification data is sent to any server.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

7. Data Security

Since we do not collect or transmit personal data, there is minimal risk to your privacy. All locally stored data can be cleared by uninstalling the App or clearing its data in your device settings.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
